It looks like a pen, but it's technically a precision instrument. I believe it was a prize from something like a memory training course over 15 years ago. The only documentation it came with was a single image. Although it's a pen-shaped voice recorder, according to the instructions, it can only record about 10 seconds per channel, which is a rather underwhelming spec by today's standards. Therefore, the image I have is that it's a mini-present for a child who isn't yet allowed to have a smartphone, or perhaps the batteries are the main thing, and the pen-shaped voice recorder is more of an extra.
