Please refrain from purchasing if you are overly concerned about minor details. As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the beauty of lacquerware. Since it's been kept wrapped, the gold and lacquer parts are still beautiful. I just admired it, finding it too precious to use, but I would be happy if you could use it for yourself or for important guests. I've added photos, and I believe this mark on the back indicates it's authentic and from the artist. (I was told it might be the mark of Okina-ya in Hiraizumi. I threw away the warranty paper, which was small and made of Japanese paper, when I discarded the box.) Even just one piece would likely be appreciated by foreign guests or those familiar with lacquerware.
