I purchased it new from a musical instrument store this June. There is no fret wear, neck warping, or any other damage or concerns. It has been carefully stored in a room with controlled temperature and humidity. It's a 2024 model, so it's still a new instrument and you can use it with confidence. It is still within the warranty period. I compared it with standard Hummingbirds, Doves, and J-45s at the music store, but this Murphy Lab Hummingbird was overwhelmingly superior in terms of volume, sound quality, and response. This instrument uses a special Murphy lacquer, different from the lacquer used in regular products. To create natural weather checking like a vintage guitar, a harder lacquer than usual is used and applied thinly. This gives it a vintage look and makes it sensitive to string vibrations, resonating throughout the body. It produces a very wide dynamic range. Many acoustic guitars with aging processing have appeared, but this Murphy Lab is more faithful to vintage than any of them! The extremely thin lacquer finish, which is prone to cracks and chips, allows for natural weather checking to progress depending on the environment of the store or the customer after purchase, bringing it closer to the nuances of a vintage guitar the more you play it. Conversely, it can be said that the paint is prone to cracking, but this is due to the product's concept and is not covered by warranty repair. Personally, I think "The weather checking all over looks cool! And it makes it sound better!" The craftsmanship is meticulous, with aging applied to the soundhole label, and the fingerboard has been hand-rolled for a rounded feel. This hand-rolling process is done before the aging process, and depending on the individual instrument, the pick scratches unique to vintage acoustic guitars are also reproduced. It's a guitar that I am completely satisfied with in both looks and sound.
