This is a cloud to be displayed on a kamidana (Shinto altar). It's made smaller for those who prefer the characters not to be too large. After processing, the edges are finished with varnish as shown in the third photo. The black edges make the characters stand out. The back is left blank as the method of attachment varies depending on the individual.
