I found this in my family's storehouse. There was no box inscription, but I've seen similar small plates on antique dealer websites several times, identified as Wajima-nuri lacquerware from the Meiji to Taisho periods. The twisted design is modern and doesn't feel old at all; it's hard to believe it's over a hundred years old. Also, the surface still has a good shine. It's surprisingly heavy, and it seems the wood in the flat center part is thick and heavy. This increases its stability and makes it easy to handle, which impressed me.
