The outer fabric is a warm, soft brushed material, and it's quite warm because it's padded. The hood is removable. It's a sample item, so the material isn't specified, but it feels like soft wool. The lining extends to the sleeves. I've worn it about 10 times. Because it's a soft brushed material, there's some slight pilling overall, but it originally had a slightly fuzzy texture, so I think it's still perfectly usable.
