Ordained under Master So-o at Yotoku-in Temple within Daitoku-ji Temple in 1940. Became a disciple of Master Kankei Seiryoken, the former head of the Daitoku-ji school, in 1949, and was appointed to the Tokei Zen Monastery in Mino. Appointed as the chief priest of Shoshun-ji Temple of the Daitoku-ji school in 1959. Appointed as the concurrent chief priest of Horin-ji Temple of the Daitoku-ji school in 1983. Appointed as the chief priest of Horin-ji Temple in 1990. Relinquished the position of chief priest of Horin-ji Temple in 2004.
