This model is Lot No. TT15666-119 / Mid 1950s Style Velveteen Souvenir Jacket “SPIDERWEB, SNAKE & SKULL” × “DRAGON & TIGER”. This is a limited edition from Tailor Toyo, to be released on New Year's Day 2025. Inspired by the Year of the Snake, this jacket reproduces the highly rare Snake Skull pattern, which is exceptionally valuable in the world of vintage Sukajan. This design, featuring a venomous snake baring its fangs and threatening alongside a skull, is commonly known as "Snake Skull." Very few vintage examples of this design still exist, and they are traded at astonishing prices in the market. Among them, this Snake Skull, made in the mid-1950s with a rising dragon on the sleeves, is particularly rare and highly sought after by collectors. While some skull patterns feature colorful embroidery threads, this piece uses pale-colored threads based on white, creating a striking monochrome contrast with the jet-black velveteen fabric, resulting in a sophisticated finish. Another characteristic is the longer crossbones compared to other skull patterns, and it reproduces not only the design but also the embroidery stitches (unshin) based on a valuable vintage piece. VELVETEEN SOUVENIR JACKET Early souvenir jackets often featured a reversible design with acetate fabric, but models using velveteen fabric with a fuzzy texture also existed as variations at the time. By adding padding, the jacket's cold protection was enhanced, and quilting was applied to the acetate side of the reversible design to hold the padding in place.
