There is minor wear and tear, but the pages inside are in good condition. Anders Edström - SHIOTANI AKPE A collection of works by Anders Edström, a Swedish photographer and filmmaker. This book compiles a record of his 23 years of photographing life in Shiotani, a small village in the mountains north of Kyoto Prefecture. The author first visited the area in 1993 and has been returning intermittently ever since. In this village, where only 47 villagers live a traditional life cultivating rice, mushrooms, and tea, the author focused on his wife's family. From small details like bathroom buckets, old laptops with chargers, and scenes on trains and in parking lots, to the gentle changes and the passage of nature that shape life in this remote village, each element is carefully captured. Initially just a travelogue, this work became a project when the author presented an album of 15 years of photographs to his wife's grandmother for Christmas in 2008. It is an intimate chronicle of daily life, the passage of time and the accompanying sense of loss, and the rituals surrounding the deaths of his wife's grandparents and within the community. It is both a family photo album and a poignant portrait of the villagers and their land. Anders Edstrom
