The fluffy Gabbeh rugs are originally lightweight. For nomads traveling through harsh environments like mountains and deserts, they serve as convenient floor coverings, bedding, and sometimes even covers to protect donkeys and chickens on cold nights. In recent years, due to the popularity of Gabbeh rugs in Europe and Japan, there has been an increase in production for export as interior items such as floor coverings and wall hangings.
