The lace portion was stored on top of the velvet portion, leaving clear imprints of the lace on the velvet. This is on the left side when worn as a shawl. Steaming with an iron (steam only) has reduced the marks to the point where they are barely noticeable at a glance, but some remain. There are no noticeable odors or stains, although it's unclear if it was ever used. There are fold creases. Wrinkle removal (researched): Hanging it in a bathroom after a bath overnight is said to remove wrinkles due to the steam. While it can be used as a shawl, it could also be repurposed as: - A sofa back cover (may be short...) - A cafe curtain (with alterations) - Clothing for dolls or stuffed animals, or a luxurious pet bed.
