Offering from my collection. This is a wooden doll used in voodoo rituals by the Adan people of Ghana, West Africa. It was long kept on the altar of a sorcerer. I purchased it from a specialty shop that deals in African occult objects. Size: Approximately 35cm tall Adan voodoo dolls are often known for their linear designs, but this doll has a curved and feminine form, making it somewhat unusual. The surface has layers of materials applied during rituals, creating a unique texture. There is also a hole in the center of the face, where herbs and other materials were likely placed during rituals. While the exact purpose is unclear, the protruding abdomen suggests it was likely used for curses related to childbirth. It cannot stand on its own, but I will include the steel stand shown in the photos, so you can display it as is. It fell from a shelf during last year's earthquake, and the right foot has a break (repaired). Please refer to the last photo. It is only lightly glued, so it may come off during shipping, but it can be easily reattached, so I don't think it's a major issue. As it is a very old item, there is deterioration and damage due to age. Please examine the photos carefully and purchase with the understanding that no claims or returns will be accepted.
