This is a Tsugaru-nuri lacquerware soup bowl, a traditional craft of Aomori Prefecture. Made of wood, it doesn't easily transfer heat and feels warm to the touch, making it perfect for soups and rice. Lacquerware is very durable, and its luster increases with daily use.
