I created a two-piece obi (a type of pre-tied obi) from an unused gold leaf fukuro obi (a type of formal obi). It's separated into two parts: the waist wrap and the otaiko (the back piece). The waist wrap is a free size (cm). The otaiko is secured with Velcro, so it won't crease when stored. The appeal is that it can be stored in a tatoushi (a special paper wrapping for kimono) as usual. ◎ Guide to the Obi Pillow Base Since two-piece obis without fasteners tend to sag, using the separately sold obi pillow base will prevent the otaiko from falling down, providing peace of mind. The last photo shows how it's used.
