Height: 13cm Base: Approximately 2.8 x 3.3 cm This is a youkai said to have appeared in Mt. Shizukurayama, in Aizu. According to legend, it repeatedly caused droughts and heavy rains, tormenting humans, until it was vanquished by Kobo Daishi using a Koshiabura tree. When collecting local toys and folklore, I've found several stories in the Aizu region about youkai that caused trouble with rain and sunshine, and were then defeated by Kobo Daishi. I believe the Koshiabura tree was also a common element in these stories. I thought to myself, even while driving, that something must have caused a lot of trouble over a wide area. If you're planning to travel there, please read the signs about the legends if you find them! I remember being in a panic when it got pitch black after 5 pm and there was no one around. The coffee milk I found at a convenience store was delicious, though! This Kashaneko (cat-like youkai) is something I recently acquired, and I didn't purchase it locally.
