This is an old Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It features a graceful design of round crests inlaid with gold on a time-worn orange lacquer. The color is a rare, deep orange, rather than vermilion. The elegant design incorporates peonies, cherry blossoms, and plum blossoms in a round crest style. While not very wide, it has a deep construction, making it suitable for *ozoni* (New Year's soup).
