Turkmen rugs are carpets woven by the nomadic Turkmen people near the northeastern border of Iran. A characteristic feature of Turkmen rugs is the repeated use of the tribal emblem, the "gul" pattern, in the center. All dyes are natural, and the rugs are 100% wool, making them very pleasant to the touch. The short-clipped pile has a smooth texture. This item is a vintage rug made approximately 30 years ago. The deepened, beautiful colors and softened wool that only a vintage rug can offer are qualities not found in new rugs.
