This is a "Michiyuki" (a type of kimono coat) remade from my mother's kimono, a retro item from the Showa era. It has only been tried on as a Michiyuki and is unused. Made of pure silk, "Omeshi-ori" fabric. The fabric has some thickness, so I believe it provides warmth. I think this is a rare fabric in modern times. * "Omeshi" is a general term for silk woven using pre-dyed twisted yarn. It is more supple and lustrous than Tsumugi (pongee), and is characterized by fine "shibo" (unevenness) on the surface and a unique "shari-kan" (crisp, dry texture). It is a high-quality fabric used for a wide range of occasions, from semi-formal wear to fashionable attire. It is in beautiful condition, but upon close inspection, there are some areas of fading.
