This is a hand-woven brocade (shokkin) from the Miao ethnic group. Originally, it was a part of a baby carrier, carefully removed as a material. As you can see in the photos, the weave is dense and very fine! The square and diamond patterns are packed tightly, and just looking at it is overwhelming with information. This kind of fabric feels less like just "beautiful" and more like a blessing passed down from mother to child. "Protect yourself," "Grow up healthy."
