I have never put fresh food in it. When stored in a drawer, it faintly smells of soap (a so-called soap scent) from the soap that was stored with it. Those who are sensitive to smells may want to refrain from purchasing. As it is a supplement, the edges of the seams are unfinished and a little rough.
