She is a councilor of the Regional Economic Research Institute and the chairperson of the Hanae Mori Fashion Culture Foundation. She has received the Order of Culture and the Legion of Honour (Officer). In 1965, she achieved success at New York Fashion Week, becoming a pioneer for Japanese designers expanding overseas[1]. In 1977, she became the first Asian member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris[1]. She was a leading figure in the fashion world, designing the official uniforms for the Japanese Olympic teams at the Barcelona and Lillehammer Olympics, and designing stage costumes for overseas operas and ballets[1].
