This is a Zazan-ori Michiyuki coat. The upper of the two "walnut buttons" on the front panel has a brown discoloration (see photo). There is no other noticeable damage, and it appears to be in good condition. Hand-woven Zazan-ori is a very valuable textile nowadays due to its limited production. It uses silk from tama-mayu (double cocoons), where two silkworms create a single cocoon, resulting in thicker yarn than usual. It is a very sturdy weave. The occasional knots are a characteristic of Zazan-ori. (Since Zazan-ori has a similar origin to Iheiori, I have also included Iheiori in the title.) Zazan-ori is characterized by becoming more supple and lustrous with time. This is a very high-quality item that has been carefully crafted.
