The area from the rim down a bit is kinrande (gold brocade), and the area below the band-like section is sometsuke (blue and white) shonzui ware. The vibrant kinrande adds an accent, making this a gorgeous teabowl. The shape is rather small, with the kinrande part being straight and the sometsuke part below being slightly rounded and plump, making it a cute shape. The sometsuke part of the body features bamboo paintings for about two-thirds of the surface, and the rest is a continuous pattern of the characters for "longevity" and "happiness."
