A very lovely vintage Japanese umbrella from Kyoto. This valuable item was purchased in Kyoto over 50 years ago and has been stored unused. Size: Total length approx. 68.5 cm, diameter when open approx. 71 cm (tip to tip approx. 72.5 cm), maximum width when folded approx. 6.5 cm, handle bamboo diameter approx. 1.2 cm Materials: Bamboo, Japanese paper Features a stylish floral pattern in royal blue, ivory white, and blue-green, reminiscent of chrysanthemums. The floral design and color scheme are beautiful. Perfect for interior decoration or dance performances. A valuable construction made only of bamboo and Japanese paper. Approximately 34 bamboo ribs are used, and the outer ribs and the ferrule are coated in black. The edge is trimmed with blue-green tape, but there are some areas where the trimming has shifted and is entirely inside. (It's not very noticeable and hard to see, but please be aware of this.) The Japanese paper does not appear to have a waterproof coating, so if you intend to use it, it is likely for use as a parasol and not as a rain umbrella. When opening, gently spread the bottom of the umbrella with your hands and then move the runner to open it. It has been stored unused and without display for many years. Overall in good condition, but there are some areas with minor paint peeling, slightly rough paint, fading, blurring, minor spots, and some light brown line stains as original features. Black lines that naturally occur when folded are present between the ribs. Please understand and agree to the vintage nature of the item and the points described before purchasing.
