【Item No. GS002】 A set of two portrait photographs of siblings taken in a German photography studio in the late 1800s to early 1900s. A "carte de visite" (CdV) is French for "visiting card." Specifically, it refers to a small card with a portrait photograph mounted on a cardboard backing, which became widespread in France and other parts of Europe in the 19th century. These were typically the size of a calling card and were exchanged as introductions or souvenirs in social and business settings. These are real photos from the time, including the backing. They are perfect for antique and vintage collections, junk journals, scrapbooks, or for framing and displaying as interior decor in a shop.
