Thank you for viewing. This is a vintage U.S. Navy pea coat. Based on the 10-button design, chin strap, corduroy pocket lining, and tag, it's from the period between 1940 and 1947. Because the tag doesn't have a size field, it's from the earlier part of that period, making it a pre-World War II pea coat. I purchased it as vintage clothing at a Los Angeles market. Designed for work on cold decks, it's known as the U.S. Navy's strongest outerwear, offering high levels of cold protection. You can feel it – it uses ultra-dense melton wool fabric, providing excellent wind resistance and cold protection. It features the early 10-button design and a chin strap, seen in 1940s coats, allowing the collar to stand up nicely. The pocket lining (sleaves) uses corduroy fabric to keep your hands warm. The tag is a printed tag from the Naval Clothing Factory. The original owner's name, Rupp A,K, and other details are stenciled on, which is incredibly cool. The details seen throughout are a unique item that appeals to clothing enthusiasts. While larger sizes are common, this one is unusually small, allowing for a more fitted look. With oversized styles and the slim fit of Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme becoming popular, I recommend wearing it fitted. 【Condition】 Being over 80 years old, there may be some wear and tear typical of vintage clothing.
