This is a flower vase from Kagawa lacquerware, created in the Showa 30s-40s (1955-1974), featuring intricate patterns using the "Kinsai" technique. External dimensions: Height: approx. 21.5cm, Diameter: approx. 7.0cm Inner tube dimensions: Height: approx. 11.5cm, Diameter: approx. 5.0cm The original box was disposed of in the past, but it is known from the box that this piece was made by "Chokusai." (In the case of lacquerware, it is rare to inscribe the artist's name on the work itself, and even for works by artists, it was common for pieces to be unsigned up until around the mid-Showa period; therefore, this item is also unsigned.) It has never been used as a flower vase, but has been displayed on a chigai-dana (staggered shelves) for many years. There are no noticeable scratches or stains, and the lacquer has a vibrant sheen, resulting in a very healthy overall condition. However, there are a few areas on the edge of the base where the lacquer has peeled or thinned, and the sheen is dull (this is included in the images, but it is likely not very noticeable through the images). Furthermore, unlike recent pieces, the "inner tube" was made using an old-fashioned method of soldering copper plates together, and some rust and discoloration due to aging can be observed.
