I purchased this last year at a shop in Tahiti that sells musical instruments and souvenirs. I think it probably contains crushed seashells or something similar inside. When you tilt it slowly, it makes a shala-shala sound like the sound of waves, which is very soothing. It's made of wood and I think it's hand-painted. The colorful flower painting is beautiful. There are some small ink splatters.
