Made his major debut in '67 as the bassist for #TheGoldenCups. His overwhelming bass playing, known as #LeadBass, garnered attention not only from fans but also from industry professionals, earning him charismatic popularity. After leaving The Cups, he was active with guitarist #Shin-Kee Chen, a representative guitarist of the 70s, in bands such as #SpeedGlue&Shin-Kee, #FoodBrain, and #Resort, and his music gained international attention. In '78, he formed the ultimate rock trio #JohnnyLouis&Char with Char and Johnny Yoshinaga. Renamed #PinkCloud, they continued to lead the Japanese rock scene until their disbandment in '94. After that, he formed a band with Noriyoshi Suzuki of TENSAW, Yoshihiro Tomioka "GRICO," and Katsutoshi Teshigawara "TESSHI" of Tokyo Shonen. Most of their live songs were improvised, making their performances unpredictable and captivating. In parallel, he formed a new band, #GroupAndI, borrowing the name from The Cups' amateur band name. He continued to be active with his wife YUKI and young musicians Satoru Onuki and Minori, performing numbers centered on R&B and blues rock. "WEED" is #MasayoshiKabe's fourth solo album, following "MOON LIKE A MOON" (1983), "COMPOUND" (1985), and "eyeless sight" (1994), marking his first release in 16 years. Although he passed away on September 26, 2020, he is still loved by many fans today, and his influence on current musicians remains immeasurable.
