This is a metal brooch. Several small, transparent stones are embedded in it. It's the pin-on type. I liked the design and bought it over 40 years ago, wore it a few times, and then stored it away in a drawer. There are no markings, so I can't be certain, but at the time, items made in China were rare, so it's likely made in Japan or the USA. It's well-made.
