The highly advanced technique of overlay glass, in which a deep crimson ruby layer is applied extremely uniformly and the surface is delicately carved to reveal the clear ground, is fully demonstrated, and the shadows when exposed to light exude an air of elegance reminiscent of the facets of a gemstone. The cup part is intricately decorated with gold arabesques and crown patterns reminiscent of the emblems of royalty and nobility, and the thick gilding tells us that it was the highest quality line of the Baccarat workshop at the time. The stem has a sculptural form with multiple facets, and the base has a hexagonal platform, giving it a dignified proportion reminiscent of the Empire style. The techniques of Baccarat's golden age are condensed in the goblet shape, and it was used as a high-class liqueur glass for enjoying after-dinner drinks and herbal liquors, and it is a work of art that adorned salons and court banquets.
