This is a Stradivarius-style chinrest finished using Masame-moku (straight-grained wood) from Mikurajima Island's Hon-tsuge (boxwood). This chinrest uses traditional craft techniques to achieve its color. While typically, acids and alkaline chemicals are used to burn the wood for coloring, this chinrest does not employ such methods. The luster is achieved using an eco-friendly glass coating to finish the wood surface. The glass coating does not use solvents such as thinner. Our workshop is the only one applying glass coating to chinrests. We have taken care to ensure that our customers can use this product with peace of mind.
