This is a bread knife I purchased about a year ago. I haven't used it daily like a kitchen knife (about once or twice a month), so the number of times it's been used is relatively low, but It is a used item, and as the pictures show, there are several areas that have turned brown. (It didn't come off with dish soap) I don't think there are any chips in the blade, as far as I can tell (this is based on my amateur assessment).
