I've been experimenting with using Carolina rigs with jig head gear, and I've been making various Carolina rigs to achieve an effective slow retrieve for horse mackerel. This Carolina rig weighs about 3g, and when cast with 0.3-gauge ester line, it offers excellent long-distance casting. Also, because the Carolina rig has buoyancy, it allows for a slow retrieve with a sinking speed similar to a jig head of about 0.8g to 1.2g. Since the Carolina rig is a through-hole type, it's easy to feel the bite of horse mackerel, and the sensitivity is good. As a result, it has been effective for horse mackerel, rockfish, barracuda, bluefish, flatfish, sillaginoid, sea bass, black porgy, flying fish, and croaker, etc. I'm offering this product hoping to help everyone have a better fishing trip by allowing them to switch between jig head fishing for nearby areas and Carolina rig fishing for distant areas with just one set of jig head gear (rod, reel, and line).
