The entire piece is hand-embroidered with an Egyptian motif featuring Cleopatra and Tutankhamun in a horizontal design. Each individual element is different, creating a highly intricate pattern. I was told this was a masterpiece, and I was captivated by the beautiful colors and patterns at an Isshin-kai (masterpiece exhibition) at a long-established Kyoto kimono shop, and I had it custom-made, even though I wasn't sure if I could wear it. The pattern on the hem is a more modern arabesque-like floral design, with a tightening blue-gray color that pulls the whole look together. Gold leaf is used, and what may look like stains in the photos are actually gold powder-like gold leaf. The custom-made price at the time was over 1 million yen in the unfinished state. It has been treated with Pearlton, so you can wear this white kimono with a little more peace of mind. You may find small stains if you look closely, but it has been professionally cleaned. The price is set within a reasonable range. Because it has a backing, it has a solid, weighty feel. I have only worn it once at Christmas, and because it is white, I haven't worn it much. It is beautiful, and white kimonos look stunning in the coming seasons. This is a high-class Homongi suitable for Christmas, New Year's parties, and other glamorous occasions.
