This is a large-sized oval plate from the Wedgwood Dolphin White series, made in England. It is new and unused. I purchased it in the UK over 40 years ago, but due to circumstances, it has been stored for a long time. The Dolphin series, with its mystical designs of marine life and shells, is a characteristic Wedgwood creation. It was manufactured between 1980 and 2004 and was available in white, blue, and platinum. This is the white version. The blue-grey enamel motifs on the translucent white porcelain create a very calm impression, with a chic and elegant, truly lovely appearance. The platinum rim adds a cool touch. It was discontinued in 2004, making it rare. Large oval dishes like this are particularly hard to find. It features the black teapot backstamp. This is a Wedgwood backstamp used from around 1974 to 1991. The black teapot backstamp mark is designed in imitation of the teapot mark used since 1878, and is a motif of Wedgwood's iconic "Portland Vase." Products with the black teapot mark, used from around 1962 to 1998, are highly valued as antiques and are popular among collectors. In 1974, the icon with an R inside a circle was added to the backstamp. This was because Wedgwood became a registered trademark in 1974, so the registered trademark symbol ® was added. The inscription on this oval plate includes the registered trademark symbol ®, and based on the color of the text and the design of the lines, it was used from 1974 to 1991.
