I unraveled a Meisen kimono and made a long skirt. The original kimono was still basted and in very good condition. (Photos 12, 13, 14) Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, I only performed high-temperature sterilization with an iron. Under natural light, it's a slightly bluish-black with a fine red lattice pattern. The simple color and pattern are versatile and have a traditional feel. It has a good thickness, and the luster and crispness characteristic of Meisen are wonderful. I added three long pleats at the front and three at the back to control the volume. Although it has plenty of gathers, the pleats make the waist and hip area look neat. I enjoy sewing with straight stitches only. I remake old kimonos, obi, and furoshiki such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon. Please consider this if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, double stitching, etc. * Please avoid washing as much as possible. After wearing, hang it on a hanger and let it breathe. * Items other than the skirt are for photography purposes. * No lining is attached. Please wear a petticoat.
