Leica Summicron 5cm F2 First Generation, Fixed Lens Barrel, Early Version Leica M-mount. The M-mount can be adapted for use with mirrorless cameras. Released in 1953. Among the legendary Summicron lenses, the first generation fixed lens barrel model is exceptionally popular. This is due to the claim that its resolution was so high that it couldn't be measured by the equipment used in magazine tests back then. The protagonist of that legend is this first-generation Summicron. This record still boasts high resolution even by modern standards. An innovative technique was employed, known as an "air lens," which intentionally avoided cementing the lens elements together, instead creating subtle air gaps to correct aberrations. When used wide open, it produces rich bokeh, and when stopped down to around F4, the resolution increases significantly, offering exceptional performance compared to other lenses of the same generation. Leica is said to capture life, and this is a lens you'll always want to have with you. Condition: Test shots are excellent! This is a classic first-generation Summicron. Appearance: Shows signs of use, but no noticeable dents. Optics: Yamazaki polishing, but the middle element could not be removed. Even so, the images were satisfying. Accessories: Front and rear caps, protective filter. Stored in a dehumidified cabinet.
