COSMO LOT.686 W27L31 According to my husband, until the early 60s to 70s, Japan didn't have the technology to manufacture denim fabric on its own, so they imported everything from the US, including denim fabric, zippers, and even rivets, to make domestic jeans. These jeans are from that early period of domestic denim. They were manufactured by a manufacturer in Okayama called COSMO. The fabric is undoubtedly made in the USA (FABRIC MADE IN USA), and is likely Cone Mills. Since they were manufactured in the late 1960s to early 1970s, the fabric is comparable to Levi's BIG E to 66 models. The fading is something to look forward to, and they also have value as repair fabric for Levi's. The fabric is also surprisingly stiff, considering it's from half a century ago. Also, it doesn't seem to be an early lot. Apparently, early lots didn't have lot numbers written on them. Furthermore, the zipper is made by Scovill, and the coin pocket doesn't have red selvedge, so it's estimated to have been made in the late 70s. The reason being that in the 70s, denim was still cut at the discretion of the maker, and whether or not to use red selvedge on the coin pocket was up to the maker. Also, from the late 80s, it seems that it became standardized within the company, so whether or not there was red selvedge became uniform. This is what my husband says, so it's not necessarily reliable. Confirmed that there is no red selvedge on the back of the coin pocket. Domestic vintage from around the 70s, using "MADE IN USA" denim, with a Scovill zipper on the front, these are domestic flare jeans that were likely manufactured in Okayama at the time. Size W27L31, waist approximately 66cm, inseam approximately 79cm (single stitch at the time of sale), rise approximately 22cm, width at the thigh approximately 22cm, hem width approximately 19cm, total length of the pants approximately 101cm. There is almost no sign of wear. They were sold with one wash at the time. Tags and paper flashers are not included. The paper patch is a little stiff. As shown in the photos, there are scratches in various places, but I don't think they're noticeable. Since they are used items, please purchase only if you understand vintage denim, and if you are not looking for perfection or are overly concerned about details.
