A friend asked me to list this. The details are unknown, but the mark on the bottom reads "Kutani-sei," suggesting it may be a product for export. These are the so-called Kin-sai (gold-decorated) and Aka-e (red-painted) cups. Inside, the characters "Rantei-shi" (?) can be seen, along with the name of the artist. It appears that different Chinese poems by the same artist are written on each cup. They are small cups, with an inner diameter and height of about 3.5 cm, but the very small characters are clearly legible. The patterns are also very delicate, each depicting a different design. One is slightly larger than the other, so they may be a pair of cups for a married couple. Please note that there are some areas where the gold decoration has peeled off or has very small chips on the rim. I believe these are from the Meiji or Taisho era or later, and I would like to sell them to someone who appreciates their quality.
