This is a hand-sewn, sleeveless padded coat (chanchanko) made from a disassembled silk tsumugi kimono (outer fabric, dark brown) and a new/used silk lining (lining, light green). It has never been worn since it was made. The lining is a new/used gentleman's silk lining, and both the outer and lining fabrics are high-quality. The collar is corduroy, and it also has pockets. I made this at the request of my family, who wanted a sleeveless version because sleeves get dirty easily when doing water work. The price reflects the fact that it doesn't have sleeves compared to a regular padded coat. The wide armholes provide a comfortable fit, and it feels as warm as being wrapped in a futon. Save on heating costs... Please note that, like a silk lined kimono, it cannot be washed. I think it would be difficult to dry clean because it contains cotton.
