This teacup was purchased about 20 years ago from an antique shop in Tokyo. It may be a little difficult to see in the images, but I have taken the photos to convey the details as best as possible. The expression of wabi-sabi is wonderful, and when you hold the teacup in your hand, it feels strangely smooth. I wonder if it's the result of its age, or the relationship between the glaze and the clay. It's a very mysterious teacup. I was told by the shop owner that it is old Asahi ware, but it does not have a wooden box. There is one place where a chip has been repaired with raw lacquer.
