This is an orange, gourd-shaped decorative item or a bud vase with a beautiful carved pattern. It was in a sideboard 50 years ago. I don't know who visited China and brought it back as a souvenir. When I searched online, similar items are sold as lucky charms in the shape of gourds. However, the sizes are completely different, so I don't think there's a connection.
