This is a work titled "Hourei" by Tokusen Fujibayashi, a weaver of Hakata-ori. It is a silk fabric that can be used as a furoshiki (wrapping cloth) or a lap blanket. Hakata-ori is a traditional silk fabric produced mainly in Fukuoka Prefecture. It is characterized by its thickness and firmness, created by using many thin warp threads and tightly weaving thick weft threads, making it difficult to loosen when tied. Its origins can be traced back to the Kamakura period when merchants from Hakata brought weaving techniques from China. In the Edo period, it became known nationwide when Nagamasa Kuroda, the lord of the Fukuoka domain, presented it to the shogunate. A representative pattern is the "Kenjo pattern," which is based on the Buddhist altar fittings, the tokko (vajra) and the kezarra (flower plate).
