There is a hole at the top (approx. 3mm in diameter) for threading a cord, and it is believed to have been used as a *netsuke* or *ojime*. The surface is carved with a floral pattern, and the natural luster from age gives it a very profound character. With a hole for threading a cord, it is thought to have been used as an ornament for *inro* (medicine cases), tobacco pouches, or *netsuke*. It is estimated to be "Edo to Meiji period Japanese bone antique" or "early Showa period folk art."
