This appears to be a sushi桶 (oke - tub/container) shaped like bamboo. It has a lid, so I think it's also suitable for putting in osechi (New Year's dishes) etc. It has been stored for a long time, so some of the paint on the lid is peeling (photo 10), but the inside is clean.
