I bought this set because I admired its beauty, but I only read up to the middle of Volume 2. The other volumes were only opened for inspection when listing them. Most of the volumes were wrapped in tissue paper for protection (removed for listing), so they are in very good condition. Volume 1 has a circular mark on the cover and a slight stain on the cover. I don't think there are any folds, page creases, stains, or tears. I stored them on a bookshelf (with glass doors) in a room with good sunlight, so the spines may be slightly sun-faded, but please check the photos. Photo 7 is Volume 1, and Photo 8 is Volume 8. All volumes include the Genji Monogatari Monthly Report and volume-by-volume genealogical charts (see Photo 5), but the Genji Monogatari Monthly Report was missing from Volume 5. I had never opened it, so it's possible it was not included from the beginning, but please be aware of this. This is a used item stored at a private residence, so please purchase with understanding.
