It is a tribal rug from the Baluch people residing in Herat province, Afghanistan. The dark green color scheme with red adds a mature and tasteful touch. The repetition of such continuous patterns is considered very important in judging the quality of Persian and tribal rugs. The neatly arranged patterns demonstrate the skill of experienced weavers. The size is perfect as a main rug for in front of a three-seater sofa or under a dining table. As a 50-year-old vintage rug, it doesn't show much wear and tear. It's in mint condition with no noticeable stains or damage, and no repairs. The pile itself is of a moderate length and feels smooth, and the kilim end finish is also excellent.
