This is a J. Scherzer C rotary valve trumpet, model 8217W. It features a gold brass body, a 11.50mm bore, a 132mm bell diameter, and a lacquer finish. This instrument is being sold due to an upgrade and is still fully functional and ready to play. I purchased it used from a musical instrument store in Tokyo approximately 10 years ago. I have used it in orchestral works by Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, and others. The sound blends naturally within an ensemble, which is a characteristic of rotary valve trumpets. The intonation, like most C trumpets, likely allowed for E and E♭ to be played by changing the fingering. Regarding the condition: - Overall, there are few scratches. - Some lacquer wear is present on areas where the hands touch. - The rotary valves feel slightly stiff as it hasn't been used for a while. I have cleaned it at home, but I recommend maintenance (adjustment) at a music store before use. It is being sold as-is. Included accessories are a non-original hard case that came with the purchase and two replacement mouthpipes (a total of three). The catalog lists four, but it came with three at the time of purchase. Please consider the hard case for transportation only, as it has dents. Although it was an inexpensive model among rotary valve trumpets, the new retail price has been increasing year by year, and as of April 2025, it is ¥709,500. I have set the price considering the condition and accessories, and I hope that those looking for a C rotary valve trumpet will consider it as a realistic option. Please feel free to ask any questions or request additional photos. I would be happy if it could be used for music again by the next player.
