This is a Shushu inkstone that has been tuned by Minista (by remodeling the ink well and ink hall to improve the inkstone's performance). The stone pattern is Gyoshimon (fish roe pattern). It looks like a school of baby fish. It works well with both Japanese and Chinese ink, producing excellent ink and color. Because it is a hard stone, it should be easy to grind even hard Chinese ink. I have tuned the inkstone to produce good ink, with good extension, so you can grind ink comfortably. It can be used for both thick and light ink, and allows you to write good lines. It is suitable for kana (Japanese syllabary - on half-size paper), sutra copying, fine writing, and ink painting.
